Or, how I got practically everything I wanted for Christmas.

But first, we'll look at what I gave. indigoskynet received the money I've been collecting all month. The grand total was just under $225! ^_^ With any luck, she'll be able to change her name in the next month or two, and there should be some left over for her to spend on herself. I'm so glad it all turned out as well as it did. For a while I was worried we wouldn't reach the arbitrarily high goal I set. *laugh*

Today I just spent time with my family: Mom, Dad, and younger brother Kipp (whom you might know as kipperton). For Kipp I bought a guitar strap, black with a red flame outline at one end, and a few guitar picks shaped like little skulls. The strap goes nicely with his new acoustic-electric guitar, which has flames around the... um... hole. (I forget the word for the hole in the front of a guitar.) I gave Dad a golf-hole-a-day desk calendar and Mom a set of four little glass giraffes. Absolutely adorable.

So I happened to get a few things myself. Well, I say "a few", but really I mean "way too much". Including, yes, a digital camera!

It's the Quantum 3x Camera from ThinkGeek (although they don't have it listed on the site any longer), and boy is it ever lovely. It can record a few seconds of video, it'll hold about 80 pictures at 1024x768, even without a memory card, it doesn't seem to be too bad about eating batteries... I really, really wanted a digital camera.

And this is why. Another of my presents: eight rolls of film from ACen 2004, only now developed and in my hands. I mean, come on! Each roll cost my parents 12 dollars! This digital camera is seriously going to pay for itself!

Now, I had an MP3 player for a while, an Archos Jukebox. But it ran really low on space and the battery died, so I've been without music for over a year (well, I have a CD player. But it's not the same). Enter the Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (whew!). 40 gigabytes of space, a nice LCD screen, and a fairly sensible user interface. Only problem is, it took me two or three hours to get the bloody thing to install. But it's installed now, and I'm very nearly done copying all my music onto it.

What would Christmas be without video games? I've wanted a GBA SP for a long time, and now the cobalt (read: blue) model is mine! Plus Final Fantasy I & II and Donkey Kong Country. Mmmmm, gaming nostalgia.

DVDs! Hard to read from flash, so I'll list 'em out:
  • Iron Giant. Beautiful movie, both in animation and in story. We watched it tonight, and I teared up at the end, even though I knew exactly how it would go.
  • Spiderman 2. Haven't seen it. Must rectify this.
  • WarGames. Also a movie I have not seen. I actually got this two days ago, through the Secret Santa exchange at work.
  • Mystery Science Theater 3000, volumes 3 through 6. Translation: OMFG 32 HOURS OF ROBOT SNARK
And last but not least, miscellaneous items and stocking stuffers, unhelpfully not labeled, because I'm lazy:

The blue thing with the pine cones on it is actually an origami checkbook. Mom has them at her art gallery; the woman who makes them stiffens a sheet of fabric and folds it up. The thing's got dozens of pockets; it's really neat. And the eyeball is one of those springy things you put on dashboards. I have no car, but I'm sure I'll find a place for it.

So that's my haul. Plus, oh, about $550. (You all probably hate me now. I can't say I really blame you.) After messing around with all of this all day, I'm beat, but in a good way, of course.

One more thing before I skip out for tonight. Looking at my friends list, I note several people have had a rather lousy day. gypsyjr, shiru_chan, parareality, aishuu, damonk13, I wish I could brighten up your Christmases somehow. No one should have to have a lousy Christmas.

*hugs you* Thanks. :)

I got a Best Buy gift card and Massive Present Envy. Which you did not help. ;) But hey, my fault for looking.

*returns the hug*

Ooh, Best Buy? Cool. Any idea what you're going to use it for?

I bought a copy of WinDVD, and I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time making screencaps. :)

I was going to buy some MST DVDs, thanks to you, but the box sets were too expensive and they didn't have any individual ones. :/

Oh, awesome. It's so nice to be able to watch DVDs on the computer, isn't it? Sure beats having to have a TV and a DVD player.

That's a shame. Those box sets are pretty pricey (not that $45 for four 1.5-hour episodes is a bad deal). Say, as long as I've got these, are there any scenes you'd like me to screencap?

"That's the story (that ain't how it happened)."

I meant to say ages ago that was really cool what you organized for indigo, man. Way to go! Your Christmas haul is well-deserved indeed (save for the WHITE HOT ENVY I feel at your aquiring all that lovely MST3k).

Man, another SP for Christmas. It seems like everyone has those things now --I wonder if Nintendo took that into account when releasing the DS?

Well, fuseji won't start over if you don't stop yappin'.

"Working on a master plan"

Thanks for the compliment. ^_^ I'm running out of ways to say it, but I'm so thrilled about the outcome. To think that that one little idea made such a difference... I'm going to make a habit of listening to those ideas.

I've wondered the same thing myself. I'm personally not too excited about either the DS or the PSP just yet. Once they've got more than just a starter game lineup, I'll think about picking one up. (One of my favorite things about the Game Boy line is the backward compatibility. I've still got a few original GB games that I like to play once in a while.)

I'm so glad you got what you wanted.

I can't thank you enough for orchestrating this whole thing. It was a wonderful surprise.

You want to swing by my LJ again, btw. There's a little tiny teeny thank you waiting for you.

I should have my real name for real in a bit. I'm going to get a paypal card so I don't get tempted to move the money into my bank account and spend it, so it'll be there until the paperwork comes through.

You deserve every good thing that comes to you.

Thank you.

*hugs upon hugs*

I've very nearly run out of ways to say how happy I am that the collection turned out so well. I may have to just smile and nod from now on. ~_^ I eagerly await further bulletins on the name front.

Spiderman 2!

*hugs own*

Because the paralells 'twixt H/G & P/MJ are... unavoidable. Plus Tobey Maguire as Spidey is just...guh.

By god, you're right!
